Everything you need to know about ovulation (3min)

Calculate ovulation

You want to get pregnant and start your own family with your partner? Of course, at the beginning, the question arises when you have your fertile days. With an ovulation calculator you can - within a few seconds - find out when you should have an exciting night with your partner. Only then, when you know when you are particularly fertile, the chances of getting pregnant fast. For anyone who believes that they have intercourse once a month and become pregnant, is mistaken.

When is ovulation?

Any woman can calculate her fertility if she knows when the time of ovulation is. This is almost always in the middle of the menstrual cycle. If the cycle lasts for 28 days, ovulation will be on the 14th day. The important thing is that you know when the last day of the menstrual period was. If you have a very regular period, you will get a fairly sure result when you are particularly fertile.

How safe is the result of the ovulation calculator?

If you are using an ovulation calculator, you must first specify the last day of the period and the average length of the cycle. Subsequently, you will get an overview of when you have your fertile days.

However, you have to keep in mind that the calculation takes place according to a general scheme. That's why you should not consider the ovulation calculator as a contraceptive. In the end, each cycle is manipulated by influences - even if the ovulation calculator tells you when you are particularly fertile, that is no guarantee that you will become pregnant or prevent pregnancy if you do not have sex on that day.

If your cycle is unusually long or very short, you should contact the gynecologist in advance. A normal cycle lasts 25 to 35 days - if it is longer or shorter, your gynecologist will perform various tests to rule out any possible disorders. If you have discontinued the pill, there is a possibility that your cycle - at least for a few months - is irregular.

When is the best time?

An egg can only be fertilized within 24 hours. This is the time when the already mature egg is in the fallopian tube. However, given that sperm can survive for a few days, five days before and two days after ovulation, it can be said to be particularly fertile. So it's not about a fertile day, but rather a fruitful week. All those who wish to increase their chances should take care that they have sexual intercourse for one day (maximum two days) before ovulation.

Watch for signals

You will, because you wish you a baby, you now deal more with your body and pay attention to "signals". If you have used the ovulation calculator, but you will not get pregnant, you will eventually ask yourself if there was any ovulation at all. However, one can also feel the ovulation - Women who have a regular cycle, often complain of pain in the abdomen or have sensitive breasts. Even a tough and light cervical mucus or an increased sense of pleasure can point to an ovulation. It should be noted that the occurrence of the menstrual period does not necessarily mean that there was also an ovulation. Even when ovulation has failed, the endometrium is broken down. To be on the safe side, you should get yourself an ovulation test.
